Regarded as one of the best courses in Sweden, Ullna Golf Club also has some very challenging greens which require skill-full approach play, most especially on the third hole, which requires a precise, powerful shot onto an island. Ullna Golf Club was commended as one of the top 100 European golf courses by Golf World magazine in 2009. Facilities include a club house, golf school, club rental, pro golf shop, practice greens and a driving range.

Ullna GC, a championship course designed by Sven Tumba, a Swedish sports icon and golf pioneer, was established in 1981. HRH Prince Bertil officially inaugurated the golf course on August 27, 1981. It is a semi-private golf club with 574 members. Located on the banks of Lake Ullna, Ullna GC is about 15 minutes north of Stockholm’s City Center. Following an extensive renovation by Jack Nicklaus, Ullna Golf Club re-opened in June 2013.

Sitting alongside the beautiful Ullnasjon (Lake Ullna), nearly half the holes are played directly along the lakeshore. No surprise that with its setting and Nicklaus redesign, this top-quality and challenging golf course has resumed its place as one of the top layouts in the Stockholm area, and one of the best in Sweden.

Whether in the form of the lake itself, or smaller ponds and fairway-crossing ditches, there is no escaping water here at Ullna – it appears in one form or another on just about every hole. Excellent bunkering, full of glistening white sand, and fast, sloping greens add further to Ullna’s impressive defences, and top tournament credentials.

After a relatively gentle opening par-5 and then a short par-4, the fun really kicks-in at the perilous downhill par-3 3rd, with water surrounding the green. By this early stage in your round Ullna is already in full throttle, and readily serves up another majestic hole at the 4th, a risk-reward par-5 that presents two routes to the green – one moderately risky the other a much tougher proposition. Even the proximity of a major road, which runs close to a few of the back-nine holes, does not detract from this fabulous Stockholm golf course.
