Las Colinas de Campoamor, Spain

Las Colinas de Campoamor is located close to Villamartin in Costa Blanca, managed by Troon Golf the course was inaugurated in June 2010 and his designer was Cabell B. Robinson who is also responsible for other acclaimed courses such as La Reserva (Soto Grande) and Finca Cortesin on the Costa del Sol, Praia d-El Rey in Portugal and the Royal Golf d’Evian in France.

The course has a unique and exclusive design with wide rolling fairways and undulating greens. It is a par 71, 18 hole championship course that works its way through the valleys and around a central high ground. The course has six lakes which are well positioned to catch errant shot and they come into play more over the closing holes. Stand-out holes include the 13th with its corridor of bunkers that swarm the fairway, making the tee-shot a fearsome one if you are on to a good score, while the par-3 fifth sees its fair share of casualties finding a watery grave.

Bonalba Golf Course, Spain

Bonalba Golf Course is located in front of the Mediterranean Sea and protected by the Sierra de Bonalba, offers all visitors a fun round of golf, with 6,367 meters and par 72 this 18 hole golf is surrounded by typical Mediterranean Vegetation, with generous greens, always protected by strategically placed bunkers make this design D. Ramon Espinosa a challenge for golf lovers.

Stunning views are part of the package with this 18-hole golf course. Situated on the outskirts of Alicante City at the back of the golden sands of San Juan beach, the course can be enjoyed year round. Home to many professional competitions including the Costa Blanca Challenge, the European Challenge Tour and The First Round of the National Professional Golf Circuit it attracts over 60,000 players each year. With a slope rating of 132 on the yellow bars, players can gauge how challenging it might be. The first nine holes are technical. Players have to clear three of the five lakes, whilst holes 6 to 9, with handicaps of 1 (par 4), 13 (par 3) and 3 (par 4) can make the difference to the best scorecard. Local golfers call these 3 ‘Amen Corner’!

Villamartin Golf Course, Spain

Inaugurated in 1972, Villamartin Golf Club is a par 72 and 18 hole golf course measuring 6132 meters, with fairways of Bermuda grass and greens of Penncross. Designed by Paul Putman the course is located within a mile of the sea between Torrevieja and Murcia airport at San Javier on the south eastern tip of the Costa Blanca.

The course was built on hilly ground, with the front nine holes being at the highest point of the course offering some spectacular sea views. The layout of the second nine lays is set in the valleys with “brancas” (ravines) coming into play on several holes. It is worth mentioning the many trees that surround the course, and the water hazards. There are slopes are all along the course and although some of them are very difficult, they make the game more attractive and interesting.

The signature hole for the course, often described as the best par 3 in Spain, is 230 yards from the elevated back tee and is all carry over a valley and “branca” to a two tiered green. The green is surrounded by trees and bunkers and the view from the tee is spectacular.

Las Ramblas Golf Course, Spain

Las Ramblas Golf Course was designed by famous Spanish golf architect José Gancedo, always providing his designs with creative and innovative characteristics with quality that has earned his national and international reputation. This 5914 meters long and par 72 golf course has incomparable beauty and as its name indicates (a Rambla is a dry riverbed, that carries water when it rains) has been developed on a steep terrain surrounded by watercourses.

The Las Ramblas golf course is renowned as being the most difficult of the 3 Orihuela Costa courses (Campoamor, Villamartin and Las Ramblas) and is narrow with a large number of trees, traps and tricky spots. It is a fun course to play, but is easy enough to walk around, set as it is amongst low rolling hills. The vigorous vegetation surrounding the course is formed primarily of Mediterranean pines that create an unforgettable backdrop for the course. Furthermore, Las Ramblas golf course offers magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea from many locations.

Thanks to the course´s established vegetation, there are abundant shady areas making it a pleasant place for playing golf even in the warmest months of the year.

Alicante Golf Course, Spain

On the outskirts of Alicante City close to the 7km San Juan beach is a modern 18-hole golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened in 1998. Considered the big green-lung of Playa de San Juan, the Alicante Golf Course measures 6.270 meters and is a par 72; with large trees and large fairways, but beware of the out of bounds if you decide to take your driver, also take care of the five huge lakes you encounter. The course is wide but accuracy plays more of a part as you have to traverse the many hazards around.

It is a gentle course to walk around and its flatness increases the visibility; the greens on all the holes can be easily seen. Of particular note is the 9th hole where Seve has taken license with an artificial lake, designed in the shape of an S, it gently curves around the green. Whilst on the 14th hole, golfers can enjoy having to clear the ball over an original Roman ruins.

Severiano Ballesteros mentioned once that the course is very attractive and varied. It calls to use all the clubs. Each hole needs a very specific and different strategy. Alicante Golf has its own personality, with five huge lakes which demand very good course management. It is spacious, but there are a number of holes with out-of-bounds and the course increases in difficulty as it goes on.
