Peralada Golf Course is one of the most beautiful and complete golf courses in the Costa Brava, Spain. It is an extremely attractive and relaxing course for players of all levels. With spectacular views of the Pyrenees the 18 holes are distributed into five par 3’s, four par 5’s and nine par 4’s. Platja de Plas golf course is situated in the heart of the Costa Brava and is the oldest golf courses on the Costa Brava, surrounded by hundreds of pine trees it runs parallel with the beautiful white sands of Pals beach. Designed by the English architect Mr. Fred Hawtree the first holes on the first Costa Brava golf course were inaugurated in the summer of 1966, and soon after, in 1968 the extension of the course was undertaken with nine holes more until the 18 regulation holes stipulation was fulfilled.
The new regulation course was inaugurated in 1970 with the celebration of the “Spanish International Amateur Championship”. Two years later, the Golf Platja de Pals, held the “1972 Spanish Open”. Narrow tree-lined farways and doglegs are the features of this superb and testing course. Pals is one of the few courses in Spain with a par 73, due to the fact that it has 3 par 5′s on the back nine.
Club de Golf d’Aro (a.k.a Mas Nou Golf Club) lies between sky and sea, 300 meters above the tourist resort of Platja d’Aro, overlooking the Costa Brava coastline at the top of the Gaverre Mountains. One of the oldest courses on the Costa Brava (built in 1990) the course was designed by D Ramon Espinosa, featuring a par-72, 18-hole championship course of around 6,800 yards and a 9-hole (pitch and putt) course, both of them in the heart of the resort and enjoying spectacular views of the Costa Brava, Les Gavarres, Montseny and the Valle de La Selva.
This course has literally been built by slicing off the very top of a mountain, an undulating golf course with strategically placed bunkers making it a challenging but interesting layout, as do the ravines falling down both sides of some fairways, an opportunity to use every club in your bag. More than a thousand olive trees, pines, cork oaks and two artificial lakes were employed in the design of the course. Distance is not the main obstacle to score well on this spectacular course; you need to plan carefully your shots so that you may have any hope of playing just the one sleeve of balls. (more…)
